Galatoma Korea

Korea has changed from being a country that receives aid to one that gives aid. The spirit of the Saemaul Movement, the driving force of Korea's development, has now taken root in Handode, Ethiopia, and Kigarama, Rwanda as a five-year project. The Saemaul Movement that began in Korea in 1970 set the basic spirit to be diligence, self-help, and cooperation. It is a pan-national and international development movement with the purpose of "Making a united effort to help each other so we can all live well." The reason the spirit of the Saemaul Movement has taken root in such a far away place as Africa is because North Gyeongsang Province expanded the goal of volunteer work from government support that unilaterally gives aid to government support that makes the residents become self reliant, as part of the "Saemaul Globalization Project." This documentary portrays one year of how the first year volunteer group and the people in Africa overcame all kinds of hardships and bore fruitful seeds of hope in the land of despair.
