Russia has responded to U.S. sanctions by ordering 10 U.S. diplomats to leave the country.
The Kremlin said on Friday it would expel 10 American diplomats and blacklist 8 current or former American officials.
This comes just one day after the U.S. on Thursday ordered the expulsion of 10 Russian diplomats, for alleged election interference and hacking.
But even amid escalating tensions, Russia left open the possibility of a Putin-Biden summit, proposed by President Biden.
Soon after the retaliatory measure, the U.S. State Department called the Russian response "escalatory and regrettable".
