Scientists on Thursday unveiled the first image of a supermassive black hole at the center of our Milky Way galaxy.
Called Sagittarius A star was photographed by the Event Horizon Telescope marking only the second time such a phenomenon has been captured in an image.
The central dark region in the picture is where the hole resides, surrounded by light coming from super-heated gas, accelerated by gravitational forces.
Sagittarius A star is located about 26-thousand light-years away from Earth, or nine.five trillion kilometers.
It also has 4-million-times the mass of our sun.
