Diplomatic sources say U.S. President Joe Biden has picked former North Korea sanctions enforcer Philip Goldberg to be the country's next ambassador to South Korea.
If approved by Seoul and the U.S. Senate, the longtime career diplomat and current ambassador to Colombia will take a post that's been temporarily filled by acting interims for over a year after former admiral Harry Harris stepped down as Biden assumed office last January.
Goldberg previously served as America's ambassador to the Philippines and Bolivia.
He is projected to take office after the South Korean presidential election in March.
