Samsung Electronics is reportedly looking to robotics as a new money maker as other big South Korean companies have done, including LG Electronics and Hyundai Motor.
Industry sources say Samsung, which already had a task force on robot commercialization, has officially expanded that group to a business team, apparently meaning it's now an integral part of the company's business.
This comes less than a year after the task force was created.
Until now, at events like CES, the company has been showcasing its robotics research, but the new team shows the company is working to make the business profitable.
Other companies, like LG and Hyundai, have been actively acquiring robotics companies to expand their presence in the industry, a direction Samsung is also expected to follow.
