Customers impacted by an internet and mobile service outage last week will be getting compensation from the company, KT, which has acknowledged it was caused by lax oversight on its part.
KT said in a press conference today that it's going to give discounts to subscribers worth a total of about 33 million U.S. dollars.
The outage last Monday lasted almost an hour and a half in some places, and knocked out payment services at restaurants just in time for the lunch hour rush.
KT said individual subscribers will get a discount on their next bill worth around 15 hours of service time, which is around ten times the length of the outage.
Mom and pop store owners will get compensation for around 10 days of service time.
