U.S. interest rate hike expected to come later in 2022 as inflation persists: Fed official Updated: 2021-10-22 14:00:52 KST

The president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta says he doesn't see an interest rate hike until the latter half of next year as inflation persists in the U.S.
Talking to CNBC on Thursday, Raphael Bostic said he expects a rate increase in the late third or early fourth quarter of 2022.
The remark is in line with other Fed officials who have stressed that interest rate hikes will not begin anytime soon even after the start of the tapering process, which may happen next month.
The central bank has kept its benchmark interest rate anchored near zero since the start of the pandemic.
