Japan's new prime minister Fumio Kishida is set to dissolve the National Diet's lower house the House of Representatives.
The dissolution will officially be announced at one in the afternoon local time marking a first in more than four years as the country prepares for the upcoming general election on October thirty-first.
According to Jiji Press, the spotlight will be on whether the ruling Liberal Democratic Party and its junior coalition partner, Komeito, can together maintain a majority of seats in the lower chamber.
