South Korea has launched a new three,ton homegrown submarine capable of firing ballistic missiles.
Named after a well-known independence movement activist, the "Shin Chae-ho" is 83.five meters long, nine.six meters wide and can carry 50 crewmembers while operating underwater for twenty days without surfacing.
It's the third submarine of its class, and was built using domestic technologies under a project that began in 2007.
Before the launching ceremony in the city of Ulsan on Tuesday, the Navy said the submarine can be equipped with the type of SLBMs that were test-fired earlier this month.
