South Korea reported its highest daily coronavirus tally on Friday with 2,4-hundred-34 confirmed cases.
Health authorities say the numbers are expected to further increase on Saturday as well as next week, with more people getting tested after Chuseok.
Meanwhile, now that the holidays are over, people must follow the stricter social distancing measures.
Starting Friday, for areas under social distancing level four, up to a maximum of six people can gather.
Two people must be fully vaccinated when gathering before 6 P.M.
For gatherings after 6 P.M., at least four people must be fully inoculated.
Also starting Friday, those fully vaccinated who come into close contact with a COVID-19 patient will be exempt from a two-week quarantine but still must take PCR tests.
This applies even if the original patient is infected with a variant of the virus.
