Today, South Korea reported 1,487 new cases of COVID-19, a slight decline from the day before due to fewer tests being conducted over the weekend.
All but 61 were locally transmitted, raising the total number of cases to date to more than 250-thousand.
With the Delta variant spreading fast, several cluster infections and breakthrough cases have occured at nursing facilities and military bases.
Elsewhere, the European Union is reportedly set to recommend that its members states reintroduce restrictions on travelers from the U.S. because of the Delta variant, undoing a step it took just two months ago.
A decision will reportedly come on Monday, but it won't be binding on member states to reintroduce the rules.
