S. Korea records 14th straight month of current account surplus in June Updated: 2021-08-06 09:06:06 KST

South Korea in June posted a current account surplus for the 14th straight month, led by strong auto and chip exports.
The Bank of Korea said on Friday that the country recorded a current account surplus of 8.8-5 billion U.S. dollars in June up more than 23-percent on-year.
The surplus for the first half of this year amounted to 44.3 billion 133-percent higher than in the same period last year, when South Korea suffered a drop in outbound shipments amid the pandemic.
Exports of automobile and auto parts in June increased almost 75-percent on-year and semiconductors more than 33-percent.
