From today, anyone visiting department stores or major retailers in South Korea will be required to log their contact information at the entrance.
This comes as the government has decided to strengthen its contact tracing efforts following large cluster infections at several malls nationwide.
Until now, restaurants and cafes within shopping malls kept QR code or phone number-based entry logs separately not the malls themselves.
The new scheme will be implemented in all regions under the Level 3 social distancing measures or above.
That includes the Seoul metropolitan areacurrently at Level 4 as well as most regions across the nation.
