Golfers set for Olympics start as Im Sung-jae tees off first for the Koreans Updated: 2021-07-29 07:57:15 KST

Coming up at 7-thirty local time Olympic golfers will begin teeing off in the singles event, with South Koreans Im Sung-jae and Kim Si-woo among the contenders.
Im especially is highly regarded as a top prospect to get on the podium.
However, it won't be easy as Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, and Collin Morikawa will be going for a medal as well.
The two Korean male golfers have an extra incentive, though, as a medal would also mean the extra reward of exemption from military service which is mandatory for all able South Korean men.
Service would mean at least an 18-month pause on the golfer's careers.
