Intense heatwave to continue through week... high waves along coast Updated: 2021-07-27 17:08:30 KST

The scorching heatwave continues to grip the nation. Today, the capital Seoul hit daytime highs of 35.7 degrees Celsius. Alerts have been raised to warnings in most areas.

The intense heat will last for this entire week and the forecast shows that temperatures will hardly fluctuate at all. Sweltering weather will bring highs hovering near 34 degrees. We do have nationwide showers in the forecast for Saturday, but this won’t be enough to ease off the heat.

Meanwhile, Typhoon Nepartak is moving towards Japan, where the Olympics are currently being held. It is forecast to pass by Sendai city around tomorrow morning. South Korea won’t be directly impacted by this typhoon, except for the east coast, which could see some high waves.

We'll be seeing a mix of clouds and sunshine for the daytime. The capital will start off at 26 degrees.

For the daytime, Gwangju and Daegu will see some passing showers. Seoul and Daejeon will get up to 35 degrees. Chuncheon 36 degrees. Gyeongju 31 degrees.

For Korea's neighbors, Tokyo will see cloudy spells tomorrow.

That's all for now, and here are the weather conditions around the world.
