The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family signed an MOU with the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, also known as "UN Women" to set up the "Centre of Excellence for Gender Equality".
It will be South Korea's first international center specifically for gender issues.
It will take part in creating policies for gender equality in the Asia-Pacific region by supporting government officials, experts and activists on the issue.
Talks between the nation's gender ministry and the UN first began back in 2019.
