India is seeing an alarming surge in COVID-19 infections and has set a new world record for the number of daily cases.
According to India's health ministry Thursday, the country reported 314,835 new infections in a 24-hour period.
The previous record for a daily Covid tally was set by the U.S. in January at over 297-thousand.
India's medical infrastructure is feeling the strain with hospitals across its northern and western parts of the country running low on medical oxygen.
India's total caseload is now at 15.nine-three million.
The death toll rose by more than 2-thousand to reach a total of 184,657.
