U.S. stocks rocketed in early trading on Tuesday before giving back those gains moments before the close as oil witnessed a sudden selloff.
The Dow Jones closed lower at 22,653 after giving up a gain of more than 900-points.
The S&P 500 ended the session slightly lower and the NASDAQ was down point-3 percent.
And concerns over oil supply are building ahead an OPEC-plus emergency virtual meeting Thursday for talks on oil production cuts.
Brent crude was up near 2-percent at 32-47, but West Texas Intermediate fell sharply to close over 6-percent lower at 24-dollars 30-cents a barrel.
