School textbooks authorized by Tokyo expected to falsely claim Dokdo as Japanese territory Updated: 2020-03-24 09:53:21 KST

The Japanese government is set to announce the results of its screening of textbooks that will be used next year in the country's middle schools.
The history and geography textbooks authorized by Tokyo are expected to include false claims that South Korea's easternmost islets of Dokdo are Japanese territory and are being illegally occupied by Seoul.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's administration revised Japan's teaching guidelines to make the erroneous claim in 2014 and further upped the measures in 2017.
The announcement is expected to continue Tokyo's stance of teaching its students falsities about Dokdo.
