President Moon Jae-in has called for concrete results this year from the 'New Northern Policy', aimed at boosting ties with northern countries such as Russia.
Earlier today, President Moon was briefed by the chairman of the Presidential Committee on Northern Economic Cooperation, regarding the committee's policy direction for the new year.
While the administration focused on improving relations with ASEAN last year, this year is focused on New Northern Policy cooperation.
2020 also happens to mark 30 years of Korea's ties with Russia and Mongolia.
The committee plans to come up with ideas to boost economic, diplomatic and cultural exchanges with the northern region.
