U.S. Senators submit resolution calling on Seoul to keep GSOMIA Updated: 2019-11-21 16:35:41 KST

(Staying with Seoul-Tokyo GSOMIA) Two days before the military pact is set to expire, a resolution has been submitted in the U.S. Senate calling on South Korea to reconsider its decision to terminate the agreement.
The resolution was introduced Wednesday by the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Republican Jim Risch , along with three other Senators, who said the intel-sharing pact is crucial to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
The resolution calls for South Korea to help maintain peace by keeping the pact, stressing that GSOMIA's suspension directly harms U.S. national security, especially at this time when Pyeongyang is escalating its provocations.
