Fmr. vice FM Cho Tae-yong named as S. Korea's new ambassador to U.S.

President Yoon Suk-yeol has appointed former vice foreign minister Cho Tae-yong as South Korea's new ambassador to the United States.
Cho is currently a lawmaker with Yoon's People Power Party and served previously as deputy director of the National Security Office as well as Seoul's top nuclear envoy.
President Yoon has made strengthening the Seoul-Washington alliance a top priority.
As for the new chief of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, Yoon named Sungkyunkwan University Professor Peck Kyong-ran , who served recently on the Yoon administration's transition committee.
And as Vice Chairman of the Financial Services Commission, Yoon has appointed Professor Kim So-young of Seoul National University.
