South Korea's consumer sentiment edged up this month despite a surge in COVID-19 cases.
According to the Bank of Korea Wednesday, the Composite Consumer Sentiment Index rose to 104.4 in January, up point-6 points from the previous month.
The central bank said tighter virus measures eased pandemic risks and thereby improved consumer confidence.
A reading above 100 indicates there are more optimists than pessimists about the economy.
