Our top story this morning.
South Korea on Tuesday saw a record-high number of new COVID-19 infections.
The country logged 8-thousand 5-hundred 71 cases up nearly 4-and-a-half thousand from a week ago.
This is the first time the country has seen over 8-thousand in a single day and officials are attributing it to the rapid spead of the Omicron variant.
From Wednesday, South Korea will launch new virus prevention measures to specifically tackle Omicron.
The biggest change is that new measures will focus on effectively utilizing limited medical, and quarantine resources.
