On Sunday, the LPGA's final competition of the season was played out in Naples, Florida.
With a four-way tie going into the final round, it was South Korea's Ko Jin-young that came out victorious, finishing on 23-under-par to win the CME Group Tour Championship title for the second straight year.
This marks Ko's fifth LPGA win in 2021 and the 12th victory of her career.
And Ko's effort to becoming the CME Globe Champion has been well compensated.
Her first place finish earned her the largest winner's check in LPGA history at
one.5 million U.S. dollars.
With the win, Ko also became Rolex Player of the Year by a narrow margin over Nelly Korda, finishing with 211 points to Korda's 197 points.
After months of back-and-forth this season between Ko and Korda at the top of the world rankings, Ko finished the season as the top female earner for the third year straight and her second Player of the Year honor.
With five wins, Ko also won more tournaments than any other player this season.
