S. Korea, China reaffirm cooperation on Korean peace process, bilateral ties

South Korea and China have agreed to cooperate on the Korean Peninsula peace process.
Ahead of talks in Xiamen on Saturday, Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi stressed the importance of "strategic communication" between the two countries, calling Seoul a "strategic cooperative partner".
They have agreed to work together for a future visit to South Korea by Chinese President Xi Jinping when the COVID-19 situation settles down.
Wang also stressed the development of the bilateral relationship ahead of the 30th anniversary of their diplomatic ties next year, as well as multilateralism.
South Korea's foreign minister Chung Eui-yong reaffirmed their common goal of the complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, urging Beijing to play an active role.
