Seoul and Washington have agreed to officially launch a regular consultative body at the director-general level, and held its first meeting today in Seoul.
The Director-General for North American Affairs at Seoul's foreign ministry, Ko Yun-ju, met with Mark Knapper, the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Korea and Japan.
They plan to use the channel to continue their talks on foreign and national security policies.
Dubbed the "Bilateral Policy Dialogue," it developed from the so-called "Alliance Dialogue," which South Korea and the U.S. agreed to create last year.
The next meeting is set to happen some time before the end of June.
