Former South Korean Olympic short track speed skating champion Lim Hyo-jun who changed his nationality in order to compete in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics for China will not be eligible.
According to IOC rules, an athlete needs to wait three years from their previous tournament in order to represent another nationality in the Olympics.
Lim competed in the ISU World Championships in March 2019 as part of Team Korea and so the earliest he would be able to represent China is March 2022.
The 2022 Winter Games are scheduled for February 4th to the 20th next year.
The change in nationality comes as Lim has been banned from the Korean team due to a sexual harassment case from 2019.
He is awaiting a final verdict from the South Korean Supreme Court.
