With many countries having closed their borders because of the pandemic, President Moon Jae-in has asked Argentina to let in more South Korean business people.
He spoke on the phone Friday with President Alberto Fernandez, whom he asked for continued interest and support.
Fernandez praised South Korea for its transparent and speedy response to the pandemic, saying that it has become a model for the world, and he expressed gratitude for Korea sharing its experience through virtual conferences and providing quarantine equipment.
Moon called Argentina a friendly country, a quality he said he hopes will help it overcome the pandemic.
The South Korean president also asked for Argentina's support in approving the South Korea-MERCOSUR trade agreement at an early date, and for its interest in South Korean steel producer POSCO building a plant in Argentina for lithium extraction.
