PM visits Gwangju, urges residents to follow COVID-19 guidelines

As the southwestern city of Gwangju sees more COVID-19 cases, the Prime Minister visited the city and said the latest situation in that city is rather unusual,. and called for full efforts to stop the spread of the virus.
"The city has acted fast entirely banning indoor events of more than 50 people and outdoor events of more than 100 people, as well as closing public facilities with mass gatherings. The government is also making efforts to secure hospital beds and medical staff."
Most of the infections in the area were related to door-to-door sales companies and religious facilities where close contact is inevitable.
He said people neglecting to wear masks or keep a safe distance is the main reason for the sudden rise in numbers, and urged individuals to actively follow virus prevention measures.
Meanwhile, regarding the recent coronavirus transmission at an elementary school in Daejeon, everybody at the school tested negative for the virus.
