An investigation is underway at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute in Daejeon, South Korea after reports of a radiation leak.
According to the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission, a team was dispatched there after it received a report that an artificial radioactive element was discharged through the storm water pipe.
The team confirmed that the radiodensity of soil collected near the institute had cesium levels 59 times high than normal.
Back in 2011, the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute had to evacuate because of a radiation leak, and in 2018, it caught fire twice.
