Pentagon welcomes Seoul's decision to send troops to Strait of Hormuz

The United States has welcomed South Korea's decision to send troops to the Strait of Hormuz to protect its citizens and ships passing through the waterway.
A Pentagon spokesperson said on Tuesday that Washington welcomes its allies helping to safeguard freedom of navigation in the Middle Eastby supporting the U.S.-led International Maritime Security Construct.
He said the situation in the Strait of Hormuz is "an international problem that requires an international solution".
Seoul's Foreign Ministry said Iran has expressed concern over South Korea's deployment to the region.
