British Prime Minister Boris Johnson once again said the Irish border backstop must be removed as part of any Brexit deal.
He made the remarks during a press conference on Wednesday with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin.
He also said Germany knows the UK wants a Brexit deal with the EU.
But Merkel told Johnson that he needed to come up with specific alternatives to the backstop.
Johnson responded that he welcomed the "blistering timetable."
The French government however sees a no deal Brexit, where the UK leaves the EU without a withdrawal agreement, as the most likely outcome.
Johnson will meet French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Thursday for further discussions.
