U.S. President Donald Trump has strongly criticized a New York Times report that said the U.S. was ramping up digital intrusions into Russia's power grid.
On Twitter over the weekend, Trump denied that
Washington was increasing its cyber attacks on Russia and accused the paper of committing a "virtual act of treason."
The New York Times story had cited current and former officials who claimed the U.S. had been running a campaign to deter future cyber activities by Russia by inserting code into Moscow's utility systems.
The paper also reported that officials had been wary of potential disruptions to the presidential elections next year and had not briefed the president in detail due to the sensitivity of the operation.
