At least ten police officers have been killed by a bomb explosion near Kenya's border with Somalia on Saturday.
At around ten fifty AM local time, a police patrol vehicle carrying around a dozen officers hit an improvised exposive device, while they were pursuing extremists who had kidnapped three police reservists.
Meanwhile, another blast in the Somalian capital of Mogadishu claimed eight lives, according to emergency services.
Both attacks have been claimed by Somalia's al-Shabab extremist group, which is fighting the UN-backed Somali government, in a bid to impose strict Islamic laws across the nation.
