Our world today is suffering through abnormal phenomena caused by climate change. In line with this issue, many countries have turned their focus to implementing policies to curb carbon emissions that is the leading factor of global warming. Among those countries, Denmark is one of the fastest adapting countries in the world to take these green initiatives. It was the first country in the world to establish a Ministry of Environment and had already established energy policies in the 1970s to kickstart the green energy production process.
In 2010, Denmark declared that it would achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Last year, they unveiled plans to build an artificial energy island in the North Sea, a wind farm the size of 18 soccer fields that would become the hub of renewable energy. This week, we’ll meet with the Danish Ambassador to S. Korea, Einar Jensen, to learn more about Denmark, pioneer in green growth, and its actions to actualize carbon neutrality.
