Seeds are known as the “chips of the future.” They are regarded to be of higher value than gold. With many countries around the world trying to develop their seed markets, Korea has begun exporting its indigenous chickens to Kyrgyzstan as the first step toward conquering the global market. We take a look at how Korean researchers try to meet the needs of overseas markets through research and development.
New paradigm in seed market competition
Korea launched the Golden Seed Project in 2012 using indigenous chickens and began to reap the results in 2016. Korean native chickens now have a solid presence in the Central Asian market with Kyrgyzstan as the base.
Launching the export of Korean native chickens to Kyrgyzstan was not easy from the start. We take a look at what challenges Korean researchers had to overcome to come this far.
Korean chicken captivating local palates
As Korean native chickens began to gain recognition from local consumers, their popularity has spread beyond Kyrgyzstan to the neighboring countries of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan as well. Korean indigenous hens are now poised to go global.
