 What They've Read #3

The third episode of "What They've Read" introduces viewers to the novel, "Diary of a Murderer" by Kim Young-ha, who won the German Prize for Crime Fiction (Deutscher Krimipreis) with this thrilling novel that boasts an intricate plot which readers will find themselves trying to piece together. Through a series of plot twists, this addictive novel pulls readers into the story of a former serial killer called Byeongsu, who is afflicted with Alzheimer's and struggles to retain his memory. Show host, Howon, a member of the boy band W24, recites passages in the book that follows Byeongsu’s valiant efforts to protect his daughter, Eunhui. "Diary of a Murderer" stands out with the humor and wit of author Kim Young-ha. Howon goes on location to places such as a real bamboo forest and port to retrace the fictional footsteps of Byeongsu. If you walk along with Howon to these places, you will be able to spot the tricks the author pervasively uses throughout the novel. Do not trust Byeongsu or even the author’s narrative! Kim Young-ha’s mastery of plot twists permeates "Diary of a Murderer," which is a charming crime novel in its own right.
