While existing deicers in the market have perpetually been raised as a serious cause for environmental pollution, ‘STARSTECH’ has developed an eco-friendly deicing product using starfish, that are considered a marine waste. The deicing product called “ECO-ST 1” was made by extracting porous structures from the bone fragments of starfish and mixed with calcium chloride. The product has an excellent deicing effect that is 166% more efficient than existing products and a corrosion rate close to 0%. In addition to its deicing product, ‘STARSTECH’ is also seeking to expand its presence as a cosmetics ingredient brand and a liquid fertilizer manufacturer as well. This is by extracting collagen out of starfish to make cosmetic ingredients and using the remains of the starfish to make liquid fertilizers.
