Peace and Prosperity Ep.46
▶ U.S. presidential race kicks off: impact on nuclear talks

The Iowa caucuses kicked off on Feb. 3, marking the first step on the long road to the U.S. presidential election in November. Meanwhile, the U.S. Senate voted to acquit President Donald Trump, ending the months-long impeachment process. Has the impeachment drama improved Trump’s prospects for reelection? Last month, President Moon Jae-in said once the U.S. presidential race begins in earnest, dialogue with North Korea is likely to take a back seat. How will the U.S. presidential election affect denuclearization talks going forward? If a Democratic candidate wins, will there be a major shift in U.S. policy toward North Korea?
To break down the latest developments, we are joined by Park Won-gon, Professor of International Studies at Handong Global University. To broaden the perspective, we also connect with guest experts on Skype, including Bruce Klingner, Senior Research Fellow at the Heritage Foundation and Robert Manning, Senior Analyst at the U.S. think-tank Atlantic Council.
