Chun Tae-il memorial truck visiting citizens

Chun Tae-il was a Korean laborer’s activist who set himself aflame, calling on the nation to observe the labor standards act when he was just 23 years old. Marking the 50th anniversary of his death, Chun Tae-il foundation has remodeled a five-ton truck and made a mobile Chun Tae-il Memorial truck as social distancing is required for all people. The mobile memorial truck shows various documentary clips on Chun’s childhood and life as a worker, using materials from Chun Tae-il Memorial Hall. New Worker Project - Cats Disguised as Laborers

Our society depends on various types of laborers. However, not all of them receive the appreciation and recognition they deserve. In hopes for all laborers to be recognized for their contribution to society, the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions organized a creative project called “New Worker: Power Up.” “New workers” refer to the often underrated or even unrecognized laborers in society, and they are symbolized by cats. Represented as the most vulnerable laborers in society - an IT freelancer, a tattoo artist, and a delivery driver – they speak on behalf of Millennials and Generation Z. Learn more about the KCTU’s efforts towards building a better and fairer society for all.
