From June 11th to 13th, the G7 summit will take place in Cornwall, London. S. Korea is among one of three nations to have been invited to the event. It remains to be seen what messages the participating members will share with the group as this will be the first face-to-face multilateral meeting since the pandemic. Countries, including S. Korea, Australia, and India, will participate in the event for the first time as invited members. Watchers are keeping close tabs on whether the meeting can deliver concrete outlines to potentially add these three nations to the expanded G7 and form the D10. UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has consistently expressed hopes to forge the D10 to broaden the democratic network. During the U.S. presidential campaign, oe Biden has vowed to convene a Summit of Democracy after winning the election. This week, we invite experts to project whether the G7 would expand into the D10 and how it would affect S. Korea if it becomes a member of the bloc.
