The South Korean cabinet approved the revised anti-North Korea leaflet bill, which criminalizes sending propaganda leaflets and materials to North Korea. When the approved legislation takes effect in three months, violators could face a jail term of up to three years or pay a fine worth 300 million won. The U.S. Congress expressed concerns over the bill, stressing the importance of free flow of information and free access of information for North Korean citizens. It is a rare occasion for the U.S. administration to express its opinion about other countries’ laws.
