Ep.115 How will Japan’s wastewater disposal plan affect Korea’s ocean?

Japan has pushed back to announce its plan on handling its radioactive water from Fukushima no.1 nuclear plant from October 27th to November due to heavy criticism from the Japanese public and global organizations.
Experts say the tritium that gets released into the ocean raises the biggest concern if Japan decides to discharge the wastewater.
Japan stressed it had received safety inspections from the International Atomic Energy Agency, but extracting tritium from the wastewater is an extremely complicated and challenging process.
Environmental experts say there is no possible way to prevent the radioactive damage triggered when the contaminated water is released into the sea. Still, the authorities say there are no legal measures to prevent Japan from carrying out its plan. We bring in experts to discuss the severity of the damage that Korea would receive if Japan dumps radioactive water into the sea and ways the world can prevent Japan from doing so.
