U.S. president Trump has unveiled a new 'merit-based' immigration system. The plan favors skilled applicants over those with family ties to the U.S. He also criticized the current immigration law by saying that it is pointless and goes against the American values. As opposed to the current family-based immigration system, the proposed immigration plan would adopt a point system based on each applicants' professional skills, education, age, and English proficiency. The response from the press and the politicians have been skeptical, and they see it's unlikely the law will pass the Congress. We will find out how the locals are responding to the matter and predict the outcome of the policy's legislative process.
Other stories to be discussed include Taiwan's legal approval of gay marriage, an anti-abortion bill passed in Missouri, Australian federal election result and more.
