Prospects for the Second U.S.-North Korea Summit

President Trump has announced to the world in his State of the Union address that he will meet with Chairman Kim in Vietnam for a two-day summit from February 27th. That would make it the first meeting in 260 days since the Singapore summit last year. Vietnam is seen as a model for economic development for Kim Jong-un in that the country overcame its many years of hostility with the U.S. and achieved economic openness.
After President Trump announced the meeting, U.S. Special Representative for North Korea Stephen Biegun flew to Pyeongyang to meet his counterpart Kim Hyuk-chul for working level talks, raising expectations that good progress is being made ahead of the actual summit. What significance does the second summit have for both President Trump and Chairman Kim, respectively? On this week's [The Point: World Affairs], we talk to an expert on the possible deals that can be made, the implications it has on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula as well as the concerns being raised within U.S. political circles.
