A lot of cultural assets have been restored by making use of the digital technologies. Preserving the existing cultural assets safely as well as restoring the disappeared cultural assets are the major goals of the digital restoration industry. The digital restoration technologies have been combined with AR and VR technologies. And it has led to the creation of various contents. It was difficult to restore the Donuimun Gate because of the traffic congestion and compensation issue. As part of an effort to reproduce the history and share it with the public, Donuimun Gate was recently restored by using AR technology. It is not seen with the naked eye, but when seeing the intersection with a screen of a smartphone, Donuimun Gate appears. Moreover, a kiosk is installed on a sidewalk in order to help people see Donuimun Gate more conveniently. 3D scanning is one of the technologies that has been frequently used for the digital restoration of cultural assets. The information on cultural assets can be saved only by leaving a 3D scanner at a desired space. Also, an increasing number of overseas cultural assets have been restored. And the capital of the last kingdom in Vietnam has recently been restored by using the domestic restoration technology. Also, the digital restoration technology has given a boost to the tourism sector. We introduce digital technologies for the restoration of cultural assets, which have revitalized the vanished history.
