Foreign Correspondents Ep.230
Myanmar crisis: How should the int’l community respond?

At least 270 people have been killed in Myanmar since the Feb. 1 coup, as violent crackdowns on anti-coup protesters continue. The rising casualties have raised fears of civil war in the country. A special envoy to the UN appointed by the CRPH urged the international community to take action against the ruling junta, while countries condemned the continuing violence in Myanmar.

The U.S. and the EU imposed sanctions on Myanmar’s top coup leaders, including a freeze on assets and a visa ban. Despite these measures, the military imposed a death penalty as a possible punishment for treason and dissent. In this week’s edition of Foreign Correspondents, we sit down with our panel of journalists to discuss what the international community can do to resolve the crisis unfolding in Myanmar.
