Get an up-close view of the Korean national team in the Culinary World Cup 2014!
The Culinary World Cup 2014 in Luxembourg, hosted by the World Association of Chefs’ Societies and Luxembourg, is one of the top 3 cooking competitions in the world. Hosted in the same year as the FIFA World Cup, the Culinary World Cup features some 2,000 chefs from roughly 60 nations, and places the world’s greatest chefs in one location. The five-day tournament features numerous categories including group competition, individual competition, junior-level tournaments, confectionary and food art, and some 3,000 to 4,000 visitors flock to Luxembourg to observe world-class famous chefs work their magic.
110 servings are on the line!
Six Korean chefs were selected to represent Korea in the Culinary World Cup.
Once the national team was determined, the chefs wasted no time in preparing, sacrificing sleep and rest! These chefs are all highly recognized in Korea, having won awards in national and international competitions, and they have gathered together for the Culinary World Cup.
They work closely together for ten months leading up to the competition, focusing the most on the hot kitchen category for which each team has to prepare and sell 110 portions of a meal.
The competition also requires all teams to sell the meals within a set amount of time, and unlike other culinary competitions, the visitors become the most important judges.
Team Korea has also registered for the cold display, chocolate art and sugar art competitions that will take place during the 5-day event.
Korea has no lack of passion for food, but how will it fare on the global stage? Be sure to find out on Arirang Prime “Challenge of the Chefs: The Culinary World Cup.”
