During the 2002 Japan-Korea World Cup, the streets of Korea erupted in cheers by Korean fans who were called the “Red Devils.“ Their excitement was shown to the world in great fanfare. It was a public outpour of dynamism and passion. Fans cheering in public squares and streets has now become a common scene in the world. There is a history and tradition of this kind of group cheering in Korea and they are the driving force behind enthusiastic Korean cheering culture. For example, there is a "Korea-Yonsei Rivalry (Yonsei-Korea Rivalry)", which demonstrates campus cheering culture in Korea. During the Covid-18 pandemic, K-League baseball fans have become known for their unique cheering style. Enthusiastic group cheering culture shown through cheering chants, songs, and dance moves have also influenced the democratization movement in Korea. Sports industry experts, journalists, cheerleaders, and sports fans are interviewed to listen to their opinions on Korea’s cheering culture within Korean society.
